Single Site Chardonnay
Wine
Rockcliffe Single Site Chardonnay is sourced from a single vineyard at Denmark, close to the granite cliffs that dominate the area's coastline and inspire the winery's name. All the grapes are handpicked.
The fruit is chilled, whole bunch pressed and transferred into 50% new French oak barrels. It is fermented with a mix of wild and selected yeast strains to provide complexity.
Malolactic fermentation is avoided to retain freshness. As the wine is aged it receives gentle lees stirring once a week until the balance of oak, lees and fruit flavours come into balance.
Bright straw, Rockcliffe Single Site Chardonnay has textural layers of stone fruit and citrus flavours, fresh natural acidity and French oak sweetness. Cellaring potential is eight years.
